Why hybrid vehicles need their own inspection logic

A plug-in hybrid or full hybrid has a combustion engine and, at the same time, a high-voltage battery with an electric motor. You're effectively buying two different drive systems in one vehicle – and both can show wear.

For the combustion engine, the same topics apply as with any used car: maintenance history, wear parts, fault codes, body and interior condition.

Full hybrid (HEV)

Full hybrids can't be charged externally and can only drive very short distances purely electrically. Here, too, we check whether the hybrid system works reliably and whether there are any irregularities in high-voltage components or control units.

As soon as a vehicle has a high-voltage battery – i.e. for plug-in hybrids and full hybrids – the electric used car inspection is the right choice. It examines both the combustion engine and the high-voltage system and includes the TÜV NORD battery check.
